Initial Steps

An initial meeting can be facilitated in the safety of a persons home or a location where they feel safe, and confidentiality can be maintained. An assessment of need will be carried out, with each individual having the opportunity to explore how the crime has affected them, and how we at Advocacy VSV can support them in addressing this. We will discuss the level of support Advocacy VSV will provide, the methods by which we will do this, and agree a suitable procedure for maintaining contact with the victim.

In order to minimise trauma, Advocacy VSV will, on behalf of each individual, continually link with other agencies involved in their progression through the Criminal Justice System. We will maintain regular contact with service users as frequently as required and this can be either by phone or in person.

We will offer support and advice the entire way through the process and will offer follow on care once the case has concluded should individuals require this.
